Horace Mann House

The main office of the Classics Department is located in Horace Mann House, just south of the Brown’s iconic Van Wickle Gates. Horace Mann hosts the offices of departmental faculty, graduate teaching fellows and teaching assistants, post-doctoral fellows, and visiting scholars. It also houses the Herbert Newell Couch Library in Classical Philology, and the Michael C. J. Putnam Memorial Library. The fourth floor houses the Graduate Commons and the Undergraduate Commons, and the first floor is home to two seminar rooms.
Maps and Directions
Caveat autocinetistes! ("Let the driver beware") If you are using GPS to find us, be sure to type in "Horace Mann" as the address, otherwise you will most certainly get lost. Also, parking is at a premium around campus. Although those arriving after business hours should have little difficulty parking within a few blocks of Horace Mann, visitors are encouraged to allow enough time to find parking.
