Prof. Eccleston Conducts Seminar Discussing Gwendolyn Brooks’ ‘The Anniad’

On Saturday, October 6, 2018, as part of the annual meeting of the Classical Association of the Atlantic States, Prof. Sasha-Mae Eccleston will be presiding over a workshop in her capacity as Co-President of Eos Africana, a scholarly society dedicated to Africana receptions of Ancient Greece and Rome. The workshop is the first instantiation of a series entitled Eos Reads where they offer professional and pedagogical development for members of the field drawing on seminal African diasporic texts that engage Greco-Roman antiquity. This year Eos Reads Gwendolyn Brooks' poem 'The Anniad'. The poem is part of Annie Allen (1949), for which collection Brooks won a Pulitzer Prize and therefore became the first African-American author to win the prize.

Interested parties should contact Contact@eosafricana.org for more info and to sign up if they plan to attend the meeting.
